For the very first time I was curious today after receiving so many messages and greetings of women's day that how it emerged and what is its history. To cut it short it can be said that in the early 20th century in the Western World, widespread protest began in order to gain right to vote and other equality rights for women in the male dominated world.
In the Indian context women had privilege of equal rights even in Vedic period. The evidences and remains discovered from the sites of Indus Valley Civilization clearly indicate prevailing religious beliefs and the worship of Mother Goddess. Even today the prevailing Shakti sect in Hindu philosophy is significant. The coexistence of Shaiv and Shakti sect suggests that since beginning men and women were seen as equal. Indeed, they are complementary to each other. In fact, by gifting/giving women the power to create, God has made her unique and special. She is fearless, and immense source of energy. She is ambitious, inspirational as well as auspicious. She has the potential and stamina to make every impossible possible. Today, she has achieved higher recognition in all the fields across the globe and still she knows and does manage all aspects of life with art of balance. She always thinks for others’ comfort before giving herself the priority. Unfortunately at the same time, in our country woman has to struggle at many spheres. She has to struggle for her own development. She has to convince or to humbly request to ask for the permission to do whatever she wants to do for her growth. Sometimes she succeeds to get through while sometimes she is restricted by the society. If a woman is flowing like a river that is unstoppable, there are opportunities and possibilities of the generation of ideal society. She is capable of making everything perfect and best. She has inherent ability to solve all kind of difficulties. The society where women are respected and there is freedom of expression to them, that society is bound to flourish, succeed and grow boundless. Women are the pioneer for the better society. They can definitely take a stand against the orthodox practices and lead the society for betterment. Many fortunate of us, including me have nothing to do with this subject as we have been raised and nurtured in an aware and conscious society and family with sensitivity where no bias has been ever observed based on gender. But there are many places where even today the voice of woman is suppressed. The possibilities of her boundless growth are stopped by restricting her existence. Why? Because she might become fearless? Because she might gain the self confidence? Because she might become self dependent? Or may be that’s why that there won’t be monopoly if she also raises her say! These targets all men and women because many times women themselves are not understanding the other one, or maybe they don’t want to understand, or maybe they want to continue the prevailing social condition in which they have suffered! If a woman stands by another there will surely be a possibility that all internal intangible conflicts will resolve. There will be a society filled with love and having all the possibilities to grow and grow... With this wishing you all a very happy Women’s day! Let’s all together make our society more cultured, positive and thriving by supporting, understanding and appreciating the women empowerment. FORAM N. BHATT

Mine and Aditya's recent visit to Kumbhalgarh brought a great opportunity to observe, feel and experience the splendid beauty of nature. The vista full of nothing else but the flame of the forest was a feast to the eyes! Here are few thoughts provoked by them and few glimpses of the place! The spring has arrived,
& the flowers are blooming. Mango trees are blossoming, & green fields are swaying. Mother Earth has worn the stole, It’s ornate with vivid colours of flowers. Purple through flowers of butterfly tree, Orange with the flame of the forest. Pink with Bougainvillea, & golden with marigold. The vista is splendid with sparkling sunlight, It’s difficult to capture the allure of nature. It’s her conjuration and The God is the artist. I am enchanted with the hues of spring, & expressing through the exiguous words. |
